The Hayananeya, a rare and precious singing stone, originated on the Outer Rim planet Ryloth and was deeply connected to the ancient Twi'lek culture. Its distinctive shape and remarkable qualities stemmed from the unique ancient Twi‘lei mining methods utilized in its creation. The stone vanished from Ryloth, its whereabouts remaining a mystery for many centuries. Eventually, the Twi'lek singer Gaya composed a song about the Hayananeya, expressing a desire for its return to Ryloth, where it would symbolize hope for her people. Over time, however, the stone had become part of the hyperspace compass found on the MPO-1400 Purgill-class star cruiser Halcyon, which was operated by Chandrila Star Line.
In 34 ABY, Gaya and her manager Raithe Kole learned that the Hayananeya was inside the Halcyon's hyperspace compass, which was securely housed behind a glass case equipped with an alarm system within the ship's atrium. They devised a scheme to retrieve the Hayananeya from the vessel during its celebratory journey to the planet Batuu, leveraging Gaya's celebrity status. With assistance from passengers, Kole identified a vulnerability in the compass's security, recruited the help of Batuuan Toydarian toymaker Zabaka to create a substitute stone, and successfully reclaimed the true Hayananeya.
