The Hidden Beks, a swoop gang with a strong reputation and popularity, operated within the Lower City of the planet Taris. Gadon Thek served as their leader. During the Mandalorian Wars, the Beks aligned themselves with the Taris Resistance against the Mandalorians; however, they were ultimately compelled to retreat to the Undercity of Taris.
As Brejik, a former member of the Beks, joined their rival gang, the Black Vulkars, the Hidden Beks faced increasing pressure. Brejik transformed the gang rivalry into a full-blown war on the streets of the Lower City, resulting in significant casualties. In 3956 BBY, Revan, the former Jedi Knight and Sith Lord, encountered the Hidden Beks. They forged an alliance with the goal of ending the war in their favor and rescuing the young Jedi Bastila Shan from the Vulkars. The Hidden Beks, with Revan's assistance, emerged victorious in a swoop race against the Vulkars, leading to Revan's successful recovery of Bastila and the elimination of the defiant Brejik.
The Beks had been engaged in conflict with the Vulkars since 3976 BBY, utilizing Swoop Racing as a form of competition to express their rivalry. By 3964 BBY, the Hidden Beks were a well-known gang functioning out of the Lower City on Taris, under the leadership of Gadon Thek. During the Siege of Taris in 3963 BBY of the Mandalorian Wars, the Beks launched counteroffensives against the Mandalorian invaders. The fugitive crime lord Marn "Gryph" Hierogryph joined their ranks to assist in leading the resistance. Gryph's companion, the fugitive Jedi Padawan Zayne Carrick, later joined the Beks on Taris. The gang, however, remained cautious of Zayne due to his alleged role in orchestrating the Padawan Massacre on Taris. Nevertheless, Zayne demonstrated his trustworthiness by exonerating the Hidden Beks from accusations of kidnapping the children of Noana Sowrs, Taris's top law enforcement official. The Beks then believed that Zayne could be trusted to join the Taris Resistance led by officials they used to be at odds against as a gang. However, their initial meeting faced disruption when Shel Jelavan, a member of the resistance, opened fire on Zayne. Gadon, however, firmly believed in Zayne's innocence regarding the murder of children and defended him. The involved parties temporarily resolved their differences and collectively devised a counterattack against the Mandalorian invasion leader, Cassus Fett, at the Jedi Tower. Unfortunately, the Mandalorians uncovered the plot and launched their own ambush. The surviving Beks sought refuge in the Undercity of Taris to evade further attacks.
At some point during the subsequent seven years, Gadon Thek lost his sight in a swoop accident. Consequently, he was expected to step down from his leadership position and hand it over to his adopted son, Brejik. When Gadon did not, Brejik retaliated by seizing control of a rival swoop gang, the Black Vulkars, and was joined by several renegade Beks.
During the Jedi Civil War, when Revan, the amnesiac former Sith Lord, arrived on Taris, Brejik had stolen a swoop accelerator from the Beks. He intended to utilize it in the upcoming Tarisian Season Opener swoop race. Gadon requested Revan to retrieve it. After conducting a raid on the Vulkar facility, Revan returned the accelerator to the Hidden Bek Base and used it in a swoop race to secure the freedom of Bastila Shan.
The Beks were renowned for their opposition to galactic slavery and demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the Galactic Republic.
Although not a full Bek due to her young age, Mission Vao was a dedicated ally of the Beks, much like her brother.
