The Tarisian Season Opener, alternatively known as the Great Swoop Race, was an annual swoop race that took place within the Lower City on the planet of Taris. It was believed that Czerka Corporation initially provided funding for the event, and later Lhosan Industries took over, until Czerka Corporation regained their position as the primary sponsors after the Mandalorians were driven away. Given the planet's status as a hub for professional racing, the event was widely considered to be the commencement of the galaxy's swooping season, which explains its name. Two prominent swoop gangs, the Hidden Beks and the Black Vulkars, competed against each other on the track.
In 3956 BBY, the amnesiac individual known as Revan participated in the Great Swoop Race with the goal of freeing Bastila Shan from Brejik and the Black Vulkars, who had captured her with intentions to sell her into slavery. Although Revan's swoop bike was equipped with a prototype accelerator created by the Hidden Beks, which he had previously acquired from Brejik's gang, it was his inherent mastery of the Force that allowed him to outpace racers who had been swooping for more than two decades. However, Brejik argued that the accelerator was an unauthorized modification and refused to relinquish Bastila as the Vulkars' share of the victory reward. In doing so, he violated the traditions of the Season Opener and proclaimed himself to be "the wave of the future."
When Revan challenged the gang leader's dishonesty, Bastila seized the opportunity to employ the Force to break free from a neural disruptor and disable her guard. This sparked a fierce altercation on the swoop platform, resulting in the deaths of Brejik, his top racer Redros, and all of the Vulkars present, all at the hands of Revan and Bastila. Subsequently, the pair returned to their hideout located in the South Apartments. Revan was soon recognized by many as the victor of the Season Opener, including a messenger representing Canderous Ordo, who approached Revan's group shortly after the race with an offer from the Mandalorian.
This event would ultimately mark the final Season Opener, as Darth Malak ordered the planet to be subjected to an orbital bombardment shortly thereafter. The swoop track later became known as Brejik's Run by the Republic restoration teams.

The player is given a limited number of attempts to successfully complete this particular race. Should the player fail three times, the Hidden Beks' mechanic will make the player aware that the engine's temperature is becoming concerning, and that he has added a basic cooling system to allow for one or two more runs. After the fourth failed attempt, the mechanic redirects the cooling system's power to the accelerator, providing the swoop with an additional boost. The mechanic informs the player that this adjustment may cause the swoop to explode eventually. If the player is unable to complete the race within thirty-eight seconds on their fifth attempt, the swoop will explode, resulting in Revan's death and an abrupt end to the game.
