Himfan was a male smuggler of the Human species who existed during the era of the Galactic Civil War.
In the year 1 ABY, Captain Himfan found himself on the desert planet of Tatooine, making stops in several of its cities. Simultaneously, a bounty hunter by the name of Tearfin arrived on Tatooine. Tearfin's purpose was to locate a smuggler who had absconded with a crate of valuable goods. Thanks to a transponder on the crate, she was able to easily track the thief to Tatooine. However, the smuggler discovered the transponder and deactivated it shortly after Tearfin's arrival. Subsequently, the bounty hunter encountered Himfan and a group of smugglers, suspecting that one of them was her target, but she couldn't pinpoint the culprit. Besides the smuggler captain, the group comprised five other smugglers, specifically Parugga, Rh'klin, Barosk, Klaphini and D'lonis. Of these individuals, Tearfin only knew Captain Himfan and believed she could place her trust in him. The bounty hunter questioned Himfan and the other smugglers, but she was unable to distinguish between the innocent and the guilty, largely because each smuggler simply accused the others. Eventually, a spacer who aspired to become a Hero of Tatooine appeared to assist Tearfin. After questioning all the smugglers, the spacer successfully identified the thief and confirmed that the smuggler captain was not involved. The spacer later informed Tearfin and was rewarded the Mark of Intellect for the successful investigation.

Himfan functioned as a non-player character (NPC) in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. Because Himfan was generated using the standard "smuggler" template, the NPC's appearance was randomly selected from eight possible variations. Even though his appearance and gender were randomized with each server reset, he consistently appeared as a Human, and the quest dialogues indicated that he was male.
Himfan's inclusion in the game occurred as a component of the "Hero of Tatooine" questline, which was introduced with "Publish 9" on June 29, 2004. This NPC would periodically appear in different cities on Tatooine, along with Tearfin and the other five smugglers. Players participating in the "Intellect" section of the "Hero of Tatooine" quest were tasked with questioning Himfan and the other smugglers to determine which one was Tearfin's target. The identity of the guilty party changed among the six smugglers each time the quest was reset, but Himfan was always innocent. With the release of "Publish 24," on October 18, 2005, Himfan and the five other smugglers were given specific names to replace the randomly generated names they previously had.
The "Hero of Tatooine" questline underwent significant changes with the introduction of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005, but the "Intellect" portion remained unchanged.
