Rh'klin

Rh'klin was a Human smuggling operative operating during the era of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography

During the year 1 ABY, Rh'klin made his presence known on Tatooine, making stops in several of the planet's urban centers. Coincidentally, a pursuer of bounties by the name of Tearfin also made her way to the desert planet. This bounty hunter was in pursuit of a smuggler responsible for the theft of a valuable equipment crate. The crate, equipped with a tracking device, allowed her to easily follow her target's trail to Tatooine. However, the thief detected the transponder and deactivated it shortly after Tearfin's arrival. Subsequently, the bounty hunter encountered Rh'klin alongside a group of other smugglers, suspecting that one of them was her quarry, but she could not determine which one. Aside from Rh'klin, this group consisted of five other smugglers: Parugga, D'lonis, Barosk, Klaphini, and Captain Himfan. Tearfin proceeded to question Rh'klin and the other smugglers, yet she was unable to discern their guilt or innocence, primarily because each smuggler simply pointed the finger at the others. Eventually, a traveler of the stars, aspiring to achieve the status of a Hero of Tatooine, arrived and offered assistance to Tearfin. Following the interrogation of all the smugglers, the spacer successfully identified the thief. The spacer then informed Tearfin, and was rewarded the Mark of Intellect for the successful investigation.

Behind the scenes

Every possible depictions of Rh'klin

Rh'klin functioned as a computer controlled character (NPC) within the 2003 interactive game Star Wars Galaxies. This was a large scale online role playing game created by Sony Online Entertainment and released by LucasArts, before its servers were shut down on December 15, 2011. Rh'klin's appearance, due to being generated from the "smuggler" template, was one of eight possible random depictions.

Rh'klin was incorporated into the game as a component of the "Hero of Tatooine" questline, which was launched with "Publish 9" on June 29, 2004. This NPC would appear periodically in various cities throughout Tatooine, along with Tearfin and the other five smugglers. Players participating in the "Intellect" section of the "Hero of Tatooine" quest were tasked with questioning Rh'klin and the other smugglers to determine which one was Tearfin's target. The identity of the culprit was different each time the quest was restarted, and was randomly assigned from the six smugglers. With the release of "Publish 24," on October 18, 2005, Rh'klin and the five other smugglers were assigned specific names to replace the randomly generated names they previously had.

The "Hero of Tatooine" questline underwent significant changes with the introduction of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005; however, the "Intellect" segment remained unchanged.
