Tearfin, a Human female bounty hunter, made her living during the era of the Galactic Civil War.
During the year 1 ABY, Tearfin was contracted with a bounty to track down a smuggler who had absconded with a shipment of equipment. Because the equipment included a transponder, the bounty hunter found it simple to locate her target in a city on Tatooine. However, the thief discovered the transponder and that he was being followed, so he disabled the transponder, and hid himself among a group of other smugglers within the Tatooinan city. Tearfin found the group of smugglers, but because she was not able to know the identity of the thief, she was unable to identify her mark. The group consisted of six smugglers, specifically Rh'klin, Parugga, D'lonis, Barosk, Klaphini and Captain Himfan. The bounty hunter questioned each of the smugglers but, unfortunately, she was unable to obtain any information, mainly because each smuggler blamed the others. Of all of them, Tearfin was only familiar with Captain Himfan and believed that she could trust him. Luckily for Tearfin, a spacer aspiring to become a Hero of Tatooine encountered Tearfin, and proposed to help. Tearfin reluctantly admitted that she could use assistance, and permitted the spacer to question the smugglers. Following a difficult interrogation, the spacer was finally able to identify the smuggler who had stolen the equipment. The spacer made Tearfin aware of this discovery, and was given the Mark of Intellect for the successful interrogation.
Tearfin functioned as a non-player character (NPC) within the 2003 video game known as Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before its shutdown on December 15, 2011.

Tearfin's inclusion in the game came as a component of the "Hero of Tatooine" questline, which was launched alongside "Publish 9" on June 29, 2004. This particular NPC would appear at random in various cities across Tatooine, accompanied by six smugglers. Those players participating in the "Intellect" portion of the "Hero of Tatooine" needed to interrogate the smugglers to determine which one was Tearfin's target. The identity of the responsible party shifted among the six smugglers each time the quest was restarted. When "Publish 24," was released on October 18, 2005, Tearfin and the smugglers were assigned official names to replace the randomly generated ones.
The "Hero of Tatooine" questline underwent a significant overhaul following the arrival of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005, though the "Intellect" segment remained unchanged.
