The Partisans referred to Horuz as a "dark planet," indicating its apparent unimportance, coupled with communication disruptions and elevated security measures. Approximately around 6 BBY, Jyn Erso undertook a mission to Horuz with the objective to assassinate Dorin Bell, an Imperial scientist, who ultimately met his demise through land mines. In the period immediately preceding the Battle of Scarif, Imperial forces were dispatched to Horuz. Leading up to the Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY, reports suggested that Horuz remained under the control of either an Imperial splinter group or various criminal organizations and gangs.
