Hy Izlan, a planet covered in frigid icy tundra, existed in the Outer Rim Territories. Margrave Juro governed this world in a time far removed from the Jedi Order's collapse, and he aimed to revive the Jedi through the efforts of Lah Zhima, a lightsabersmith. Juro initiated mining operations to extract kyber crystals, employing harpoon cannons on the planet's terrain to gather crystals originating from asteroids within Hy Izlan's planetary ring. To furnish them with lightsabers and resurrect the Jedi Order, Juro summoned a group of Jedi without Masters to the Aerial Temple positioned above Hy Izlan; however, Sith acolytes discovered his scheme and, masquerading as Jedi, responded to the summons. Aided by Kara, Lah Zhima's Force-sensitive offspring, and the Jedi duo of Ethan and Homen, Juro triumphed over the Sith, leading the quartet to embark on their journey.
"The Ninth Jedi," a short film featured in the Star Wars: Visions anthology, is where Hy Izlan first appeared; Kenji Kamiyama both directed and wrote it. Production IG handled the production, and it was made available on Disney+ on September 22, 2021.
