Imperial Scout Trooper Forest Camouflage Armor

The Imperial Scout Trooper Forest Camouflage Armor, also known as Imperial Forest Camouflage Armor, represented a specialized type of battle armor employed by the forces of the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War. Originating from Imperial Ordinance research and development following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, this particular armor was not a standard issue item for Imperial personnel. A related armor type was the Imperial Stormtrooper Forest Camouflage Armor.

Description

The Galactic Empire created the Imperial Scout Trooper Forest Camouflage Armor as a variant of battle armor that bore a strong resemblance to the standard armor utilized by Imperial scout troopers. In contrast to the typical clean white color scheme, this armor featured a speckled green and brown pattern, designed to provide effective concealment in forested environments. This armor also showed similarities to armor used by wetland assault stormtroopers in the early stages of the Galactic Civil War.

History

The Imperial Scout Trooper Forest Camouflage Armor, or Imperial Forest Camouflage Armor, emerged from Imperial Ordinance initiatives but saw limited deployment during the Galactic Civil War after the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY. While not a regularly issued item, at least one individual, a recipient of the Imperial Medallion of Service, received this armor as a reward for their dedicated service to influential figures at the Emperor's Retreat on the planet Naboo, including Kaja Or'Zee, Inquisitor Loam Redge, Lord Hethrir, Captain Thrawn, Colonel Veers, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Vader.

Despite being intended for Imperial use, a female Human terrorist named Delia Visi was known to wear a dark-hued version of the Scout Trooper Forest Camouflage Armor, but without the helmet. Following her involvement in the "Rori Incident," which involved the bombing of an Imperial military installation within the Naboo system, she became a top 10 fugitive on the Bounty Hunters' Guild's most wanted list. Ultimately, an unidentified bounty hunter located and killed her.

Another variation of this armor, the Imperial Stormtrooper Forest Camouflage Armor, also saw action with the Empire during the Galactic Civil War. This alternative version more closely resembled the standard armor worn by stormtroopers. The Alliance to Restore the Republic also utilized their own forest camouflage armor, known as Rebel Assault Forest Camouflage Armor.

Behind the scenes

The Imperial Forest Camouflage Armor made its initial appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before the game's shutdown on December 15, 2011. On September 12, 2007, with the launch of Chapter 6.12: Masters of the Wild, this armor was implemented as the reward for the completion of various quests within a redesigned Imperial Theme Park.

The original intention was for this armor to be the Imperial Stormtrooper Forest Camouflage Armor. However, due to negative feedback from some players regarding its perceived aesthetic qualities, the developers opted not to include that particular armor set as the player reward. Instead, the revised design, which more closely resembled scout trooper armor, was implemented. Despite the scout trooper armor being classified as reconnaissance armor in Galaxies, the Scout Trooper Forest Camouflage Armor maintained its designation as battle armor. Examining a piece of the armor revealed the description: "Imperial Scout Trooper Forest Camouflage Armor. A recent development from Imperial Ordinance. Not routinely issued to troops."
