JG-1, alternatively referred to as the Junk Giant, represents a monster droid brought into existence by Taborr Val Dorn in conjunction with his group.
Although its identity was initially unknown, JG-1 made its debut within the pages of the children's book Young Jedi Adventures: Jedi Training, a work penned by Caitlin Kennedy and brought to the public by Disney–Lucasfilm Press on May 2, 2023. The droid's identity was subsequently revealed in "The Junk Giant," which constitutes the latter half of the third episode of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, an animated program featured on both Disney+ and Disney Junior, which was broadcasted on May 4, 2023.
Notwithstanding JG-1's initial visual representation, the droid stands as a wholly original creation conceived and nurtured specifically for the animated series. Throughout the character's developmental phase, Andy Bialk and Amy Beth Christenson both contributed to JG-1's design, with Christenson's design ultimately being selected and refined.
