Jimm Doshun, known by the moniker "the Starkiller Kid," was a male Human born on Aduba-3, specifically in the village of Onacra. Becoming an orphan at the tender age of three, Doshun's upbringing was handled by FE-9Q, an outdated tractor-robot, and he matured into a defiant young man. The Cloud-Riders gang, led by Serji-X Arrogantus, terrorized his village, and Doshun grew increasingly frustrated with the elders' reluctance to confront them. Driven by a desire to impress Merri Shen, a local girl, Doshun armed himself and, accompanied by FE, journeyed to the spaceport of Tun Aduban.
It was there that he encountered Han Solo, a smuggler who was assembling a diverse group of gunslingers to protect Onacra from Arrogantus. Doshun made a positive impression on Solo, earning him a place on the team. Alongside the other members, who would later be known as the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3, Doshun played a role in the defense of Onacra against Arrogantus and a massive creature of ancient origins. With the invaders repelled, Doshun successfully captured Shen's attention, and the two eventually married. Later, Doshun found himself targeted by the deadly bounty hunter Beilert Valance, against whom he once again defended Onacra. In the years that followed, he and Merri had two children.
Hailing from Onacra, a farming village situated on the distant world of Aduba-3, was Jimm Doshun, a male Human. At the young age of three years old, his parents met their end during an attack by high-hounds, resulting in their deaths. In the aftermath of this tragedy, the community of Onacra collectively assumed responsibility for his upbringing. The daily care of the boy was primarily entrusted to FE-9Q, the Doshuns' antiquated tractor-robot. The droid endeavored to impart the Doshuns' values and knowledge to young Doshun, and despite the boy's open defiance towards the droid, he harbored deep affection for it. As he entered his teenage years, Doshun became challenging and frequently found himself in trouble. FE often provided assistance, but Doshun consistently exploited the droid's programming, which compelled it to obey his commands.
He was incensed by the town elders' unwillingness to defend themselves from the raiding Cloud-Riders commanded by Serji-X Arrogantus. Doshun armed himself with a sling and his hunting knife, confident in his ability to protect himself. Furthermore, he sought to impress Merri Shen, a local girl, despite his youth and lack of experience. In the year 0 ABY, Doshun was infuriated upon learning that Ramiz, one of the town leaders, intended to travel to the spaceport of Tun Aduban to seek assistance in establishing a defensive strategy against Arrogantus—particularly considering that the port was the origin of individuals like Arrogantus and his Cloud-Riders.
Resolved to journey to Tun Aduban himself, Doshun equipped himself with a blaster pistol, adopted the moniker "The Starkiller Kid," and brought FE-Q9 along to the township, which he had never visited before. The sixteen-year-old and the droid managed to infiltrate Locru's Central Saloon, hoping to join a posse that was being formed there. During his interview with Han Solo, the man organizing the posse, Doshun admitted his desire to leave the planet. Solo recognized FE's potential usefulness but demanded that Doshun provide three reasons for his inclusion. The young man explained that he had been confined to Aduba-3 his entire life and feared that he would lose his sanity if he remained there any longer. Solo inquired about Doshun's experience with blasters—the young man claimed to be a seasoned gunman, but Solo remained skeptical.
Nevertheless, the Corellian was impressed by Doshun's courage and enthusiasm, which reminded him of another friend, Luke Skywalker, about whom he briefly told Doshun. After reminiscing, he relented and allowed Doshun and FE to join his posse. Overjoyed, Doshun began packing his belongings, fully convinced that he would finally depart from Aduba-3. The following day, Doshun and FE gathered with the rest of the posse—the Wookiee Chewbacca, gunslinger Amaiza Foxtrain, Spiner Hedji, faux-Jedi Don-Wan Kihotay, and the Lepi Jaxxon. Doshun demanded to know the location of Solo's ship, but the smuggler clarified that Doshun had misunderstood. Before he could elaborate, Serji-X Arrogantus and the Cloud-Riders approached the posse. Solo promptly revealed that the posse would, in fact, be defending Onacra from them—they were the offworlders hired by Ramiz. Doshun, noting the presence of only six Cloud-Riders, suggested that the posse could easily defeat them, but Solo disagreed, pointing out that only a few of their group were armed with blasters. Arrogantus exchanged words with Solo, questioning the qualifications of the ragtag posse. Enraged, Doshun drew his weapon but was restrained by Foxtrain before he could fire upon Arrogantus. Amused, the marauder departed while Doshun recovered.

Despite the brevity of his time with Solo, the Corellian imparted to the Aduban the fundamental principles of gunslinging, marksmanship, and defense. As the posse mounted banthas and set off for Onacra, Doshun led them on foot. En route, they encountered a pack of high-hounds raiding the farmers' crops. Doshun alerted Solo to the danger posed by the high-hounds, prompting the Corellian to lead the posse in a charge against the creatures. The posse engaged the high-hounds in battle, and when Kihotay wielded his lightsaber against the creatures, Doshun joined him, echoing the old man's fervent cry of victory. While FE restrained one of the high-hounds with its telescoping arms, Doshun fatally shot it. The remaining high-hounds were driven off as Solo managed to rescue one of the farm girls, none other than Merri Shen, who was being harassed by the creatures.
Upon arriving in Onacra, the posse proceeded to stable their banthas. Subsequently, Solo tasked the posse and the villagers with constructing makeshift defenses in anticipation of Arrogantus's inevitable arrival. Once their work was complete, the posse gathered, and Solo ensured their readiness for the impending attack. At that moment, Jaxxon alerted the group to the approaching Arrogantus and the Cloud-Riders. The battle commenced, and Doshun found himself in the heart of the conflict. FE attempted to issue a warning, but Doshun was unable to hear the tractor-droid over the din of blaster fire. As one of the Cloud-Riders attempted to shoot Doshun in the back, FE raced into the line of fire, taking the shot for "The Starkiller Kid." Doshun cried out in anguish as the loyal tractor-droid was shattered and destroyed by the blaster fire.
The situation became significantly more complicated when one of the villagers, known as the Old One, summoned the Behemoth from the World Below into the battle. Faced with the gargantuan Behemoth, which was impervious to blaster shots and capable of projecting concentrated blasts from its head, the posse regrouped. They were scattered once again when the Behemoth triggered a landslide, resulting in the trampling of both the Old One and Arrogantus. Doshun observed that, without the Old One's control, the Behemoth was likely to rampage through and destroy Onacra. Jaxxon concurred with Doshun, but Foxtrain believed that the apparent death of Arrogantus signaled the end of their responsibility to the villagers. Nevertheless, Solo managed to keep the posse together and decided that they needed to devise a coordinated group attack. Before they could do so, they had to contend with yet another landslide. Upon regrouping once more, Solo realized that Kihotay had ventured off alone to confront the beast.
Doshun and the posse watched in amazement as the elderly faux-Jedi led the Behemoth away from the posse in an attempt to isolate it. Hedji attempted to assist Kihotay but was struck down by the Behemoth, rendering his natural quill throwing abilities useless. Doshun could only watch as Solo and Chewbacca rushed to the aid, with the former seizing Kihotay's lightsaber and destroying the Behemoth with it. With the threat eliminated, the posse gathered themselves, and Doshun was ready to finally depart from Aduba-3. However, Shen approached him in the aftermath, expressing her astonishment at his bravery. Doshun was surprised, as she had barely glanced at him before, but she hoped he would reconsider leaving the village. She thanked Solo for "bringing out the man" in Doshun, and the rest of the posse were subsequently paid. Doshun chose to stay with Shen, and the two were married shortly thereafter. The posse would come to be known as the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3, and inspired a holodocumentary produced by Tri-Nebula Entertainment.
In due course, Shen became pregnant with their first child, and later that same year, Jaxxon and Foxtrain returned to Onacra aboard the Lepi's ship, the Rabbit's Foot. Jaxxon informed Doshun that he was being sought by bounty hunters, who were likely en route to Aduba-3. Foxtrain devised a plan to outwit the hunters—the Rabbit's Foot would take to the skies and stage a crash landing near Onacra, prompting the attackers to land and disembark from their ship. Doshun would then trigger a bantha stampede to eliminate the hunters. The plan unfolded as intended—after re-landing near Onacra, Jaxxon and Foxtrain exited their ship and concealed themselves in the tall grass while the hunters' ship, the Kill Switch, landed.

Doshun, lamenting the absence of Solo and Chewbacca, fired his blaster into the air, initiating the stampede. The majority of the attackers were wiped out, and Foxtrain gunned down one survivor. The leader of the hunters, Beilert Valance, attempted to escape and return to the Kill Switch, but his path was blocked by Doshun, Foxtrain, and Jaxxon. Valance examined Doshun and remarked that he was not "the boy" he was after. The bounty hunter flew into a rage, realizing that the entire endeavor had been futile. He fired a blast from his cybernetic hand at the trio, forcing them to scatter as he escaped. As Valance flew away, Doshun believed that the situation was resolved, but Foxtrain wondered who Valance had been hunting. Unbeknownst to the Star-Hoppers, his target had been Solo's friend, Luke Skywalker.
Shen eventually gave birth to a daughter, Hanna, and as of 2 ABY, they were expecting a second child. That year, Doshun received a death threat, purportedly from the bounty hunter Valance, who had been destroyed by the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, several years prior. Doshun and his wife were visited by Alliance historian Voren Na'al, who was compiling a report on the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3. Doshun himself was reluctant to be interviewed, having been unnerved by the apparent resurgence of Valance. Shen was more than willing to speak with Na'al, although her accounts of events two years prior were largely influenced by the Tri-Nebula holodocumentary.
Jimm Doshun chose a more confrontational approach towards individuals like Arrogantus, which clashed with the town leadership's preference for subservience. At the age of sixteen, he possessed unwavering faith in his own combat prowess, despite his complete lack of experience. His departure from the town and embrace of a combative lifestyle were partly motivated by a desire to impress Merri Shen, with whom he was infatuated. Doshun grew incensed when he learned that Ramiz intended to seek assistance for Onacra from Tun Aduban, the very source of their troubles. His enthusiasm impressed the Corellian Han Solo, who welcomed Doshun as one of his Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3. He would become enraged when his abilities and experience were questioned, responding with aggression or resentment. Doshun was also highly impatient, eager to rush into action while others exercised caution. Despite his attempts to distance himself from his humble upbringing in a farming community, he remained loyal to the people who had raised him. He eagerly anticipated leaving Aduba-3 after the Behemoth from the World Below was defeated, but was persuaded to stay when Merri Shen confessed her attraction to him.
Having been largely raised by the droid FE-9Q, Doshun demonstrably resisted the droid's authority but secretly harbored deep affection for it. When he found himself in trouble as a rebellious youth, he was often rescued by FE-9Q's efforts, but Doshun would frequently exploit the fact that FE was programmed to obey his commands. Despite this, FE maintained a verbal superiority, even while being forced to execute the young man's instructions. When interacting with strangers, Doshun maintained that FE was his pet. Although the boy and the droid continued to argue while they were members of the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3, FE sacrificed himself for Doshun's survival, a fact that deeply distressed the young man.
Jimm Doshun, "the Starkiller Kid," made his debut in Star Wars (1977) 8 (1978), authored by Roy Thomas and Howard Chaykin. The "Starkiller" name originated in earlier versions of the script for Star Wars. Initially, it was intended to be the surname of several characters who would later evolve into Anakin and Luke Skywalker.
