John Whitman


John Whitman is both a writer of novels from the United States and a teacher of martial arts. Possessing a 5th-degree black belt, he is also a defensive tactics instructor in Krav Maga, having received training in defensive tactics and protective services in both Israel and the United States. Whitman instructs military, law enforcement, and civilian personnel, and has been an instructor for elite military groups both domestically and internationally. As well as this, he established the Krav Maga Alliance, an international network of Krav Maga schools, and held the position of president at Krav Maga Worldwide for a duration of 7 years.

Whitman was a student at the University of California, Berkeley, between 1985 and 1989, where he earned a B.A. in Literature; furthermore, he attended Boston University from 1990 to 1991, graduating with an M.A. in Creative Writing. Also, he has worked as the Executive Editor for Time Warner Audio books.

He is the author of numerous books and has contributed to projects such as Zorro (for example, Witch's Curse) in addition to the Star Wars: Galaxy of Fear series. His more recent works include four novels, published by HarperCollins, that are based on the television series 24. He also co-authored the books Complete Krav Maga and Krav Maga for Beginners, which were published by Ulysses Press.

Whitman's involvement in the Return of the Jedi drama was a result of Brian Daley's health issues at that time, with the inclusion of Arica being his most significant contribution.
