Kakra

K43, also known as Kakra by the elders of the indigeonous population in their native tongue, was a planet with volcanic activity and significant tectonic instability. It was situated in Wild Space within the Expansion Region. Despite initial assumptions, K43 was not desolate, but rather the home of the Kakrans, a species of sentient beings composed of rock. With a plan to decimate Imperial Star Destroyers, the Alliance to Restore the Republic dispatched Chewbacca and C-3PO to the planet, equipped with proton detonators, with the intention of using the planet's unstable condition to their advantage. However, upon arriving, the rebels discovered the planet was in fact inhabited.

During a clash between Rebel forces and the Imperial Star Destroyers, the planet began to fracture, revealing itself to be a shell encompassing a gigantic Kakran. This enormous Kakran then proceeded to obliterate the Star Destroyers in orbit, enabling the Rebels to make their escape.

Behind the scenes

Kakra made its debut appearance in Star Wars (2015) 68, a comic penned by Greg Pak, with illustrations by Phil Noto, and published by Marvel Comics on July 10, 2019.

An Amazon product description for the twelfth volume of the Star Wars series mentioned Chewbacca and C-3PO encountering a hidden droid civilization on an unstable planet, a detail that was subsequently removed. However, Star Wars 68 depicts K43 as inhabited by rock-based beings, not droids. The solicitation for Star Wars (2015) 70 referred to the planet as "Planet K43," but the comic itself only identified it as K43.
