Kani Asari was a Human female Padawan belonging to the New Jedi Order. In 43 ABY, she was stationed at the Jedi Temple located on Coruscant and served as the personal assistant to Interim Grand Master Kenth Hamner while he addressed the issues between the Order and the Galactic Alliance.
When Han and Leia Solo, former Alliance fugitives who became liaison officers, came to the Temple to discuss a potential working treaty between Natasi Daala, the Chief of State, and the Jedi High Council, Padawan Asari greeted them in the main entrance hall. She then accompanied them to a turbolift within the Great Hall, which transported them to a conference room situated deep within the Temple. Later on, when Daala commanded Mandalorians to besiege the Temple, Asari attempted to negotiate with the Mandalorian commander, Belok Rhal. However, he dismissed her, stating she was not Saar or Altamik, and fatally shot her at close range, killing her, which greatly shocked the Jedi. Following Asari's demise, Wynn Dorvan, the Galactic Alliance Chief of Staff, carried her body from the Temple steps after his usual midday meal with the Jedi Raynar Thul.
