Karabast

Zeb come at me bro The Rebel, Garazeb Orrelios, frequently used the term "karabast." Karabast represents an exclamation from the Lasat language, typically uttered during tense or critical situations.

History

During the Coronation of Queen Fanry, Qui-Gon Jinn voiced this exclamation when his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, appeared to be caught after Fanry declared a rebellion.

Garazeb Orrelios uses the phrase while in combat.

In the midst of a battle on Mustafar, Admiral Gable Karius exclaimed the phrase after the Corvax descendant took out his TIE/ln space superiority starfighter, causing him to crash.

Garazeb Orrelios, a member of the Ghost crew, made liberal use of the expression. Ezra Bridger began using the phrase after time spent with Orrelios. Sabine Wren, another rebel ally of Orrelios, also said the phrase upon seeing an Imperial Star Destroyer emerge from hyperspace (prompting Orrelios to repeat it), as did ISB agent Alexsandr Kallus, although he was confused about its meaning.

The rebel commando Pao employed the expression during the Battle of Scarif upon noticing an incoming AT-ACT.

During the Battle of Jakku, Shriv Suurgav, a Duros, used the exclamation upon witnessing an MC80 Star Cruiser taking significant damage and crashing down in flames.

Behind the scenes

The phrase's creation is attributed to writer Greg Weisman for the animated television program Star Wars Rebels. Commonly, archive audio of Pao shouting "Karabast!" can be heard in the video game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes when he is defeated.

In the Young Justice animated series from DC Comics, specifically "Illusion of Control," the sixteenth episode of the third season, which aired on July 2, 2019, the character Henchy, who is later revealed to be Devastation in disguise, says karabast after being struck by Perdita Vladek. Steve Blum, who also voiced Garazeb Orrelios in Rebels, provided the voice for Henchy, and Weisman wrote the episode.
