Keeheen

A male Trianii named Keeheen distinguished himself as a member of the esteemed Trianii Rangers. These Rangers operated on the edge of Trianii Space during the period known as the Galactic Civil War. Remarkably, Keeheen became the organization's youngest ever fully commissioned Ranger. His duties involved patrolling the frontier planet of Fibuli, a world that had been a long-standing point of contention between the Trianii and the Corporate Sector Authority. In the year 2 BBY, Keeheen participated in an armed Trianii resistance movement against the Authority's annexation of Fibuli. As a consequence of his involvement, he was apprehended and incarcerated in Stars' End, a clandestine Authority prison. Nevertheless, his wife, Atuarre, and their cub, Pakka, were instrumental in locating him. Working together with the notorious Corellian smuggler Han Solo, they orchestrated Keeheen's liberation, along with that of numerous other prisoners, in a large-scale jailbreak.

Biography

Keeheen, a male of the Trianii species known for their feline characteristics, experienced the loss of his parents at a young age, due to poisoning caused by toxic waste dumping on their farm. His aunt took him in, and he grew up with aspirations of joining the Trianii Rangers, the elite troops responsible for enforcing the law in the Trianii colonies that he considered home. From an early age, Keeheen committed himself to training for his future career. He excelled in both athletic and academic pursuits throughout his childhood, and eventually became the youngest fully commissioned Trianii Ranger in history. Shortly thereafter, he encountered Atuarre, a young Trianii woman who caught his eye while she was observing Ranger training. He boldly proposed marriage to her on the spot. Although she initially declined, they exchanged contact information and remained in communication for the next two years. Keeheen continued to propose frequently, and Atuarre eventually accepted, leading to their marriage.

Soon after their marriage, Keeheen and Atuarre celebrated the birth of their first cub, a son named Pakka. At Keeheen's encouragement, Atuarre also joined the Rangers, discovering that her background in dance provided excellent preparation for training in Trianii martial arts. Together, they were assigned to the frontier world of Fibuli, a focal point in the ongoing conflict between the Trianii and the neighboring Corporate Sector Authority. Although their early patrols on Fibuli were relatively uneventful—mainly involving busting thionarx dealers and herdbeast rustlers—everything changed in 2 BBY, when the Corporate Sector Authority launched a large-scale operation to annex Fibuli. Keeheen and his wife immediately joined the local Trianii resistance, but they were quickly overwhelmed, and both Keeheen and his cub were captured. Over the following weeks, Keeheen endured relentless torture, but he refused to reveal the identities of the resistance leaders. While Atuarre successfully rescued Pakka in a daring raid on an Authority transport, Keeheen became one of many individuals around the Corporate Sector who seemingly disappeared without a trace.

Without his family's knowledge, Keeheen, along with hundreds of other prisoners, was secretly transported to Stars' End, an experimental prison facility located on the desolate asteroid Mytus VII. There, he was placed in a stasis booth to serve his prison sentence in a state of dreamless sleep. However, his family had not given up on him. Atuarre and Pakka joined a group of friends and family members of the recently disappeared from the Corporate Sector, with the goal of finding and freeing Keeheen and the other prisoners. Over the subsequent months, they uncovered the existence and location of Stars' End. Teaming up with the infamous Corellian smuggler Han Solo, they orchestrated a jailbreak. The invaders triggered a massive power plant failure, which released the prisoners from stasis. In the ensuing chaos, Keeheen was overjoyed to reunite with his wife and cub. However, Solo had become separated from the rest of the group, and Keeheen—fearing that his cub would volunteer to go after him—joined several others to return for him. Keeheen fought his way through Security Police troops and found Solo in the prison's smoke-filled corridors. Together, they escaped the station aboard Solo's ship, the Millennium Falcon.

In the months following the liberation of Stars' End, Keeheen and Atuarre decided to settle down, taking a year off from active duty to allow their traumatized cub time to recover. Keeheen subsequently took on a role as a Ranger administrator, while his wife became a trainer for the force's cadets.

Personality and traits

The death of Keeheen's parents due to an "accidental" toxic waste dumping significantly influenced his life. The image of a Trianii Ranger standing up against those responsible left a lasting impression on him and shaped his strong sense of justice. From that moment forward, he aspired to become a Ranger himself, viewing them as the only individuals in the Trianii colonies who truly stood for something. Keeheen dedicated himself entirely to his dream, only to find love along the way. He was captivated by the sleek and graceful Atuarre, leading the open and straightforward Trianii Ranger to propose at the first opportunity. Ultimately, Atuarre was the one who rescued him from his imprisonment on Stars' End, and Keeheen was overjoyed to have his family reunited, experiencing immense relief in knowing that they were safe.

Behind the scenes

Keeheen made his debut in Han Solo at Stars' End, a novel penned by Brian Daley and published in 1979. He was depicted by Alfredo Alcala in the story's comic adaptation. Later, Mike Vilardi illustrated Keeheen in 1993's Han Solo and the Corporate Sector Sourcebook, which provided a significant amount of backstory for the Trianii.
