Kendle, an Inleshat female, is remembered as the one who briefly seized control of the Iskalonian School on Iskalon in 3 ABY. She was the spouse of Mone and the daughter-in-law of Primor, the School's leader. After the Galactic Empire violently conquered the Iskalon system, Kendle began providing information to the Empire. Her communications with Imperial Admiral Griggor Tower resulted in the apprehension of several Rebel operatives on Gamandar. Following Tower's devastating attack on Iskalon by unleashing a massive tidal wave that killed Primor, Kendle assumed leadership of the School and instigated an attack on Rebels Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. This reign was short-lived, as Kendle met her death soon after, at the hands of a chiaki.
Born on the planet of Iskalon, Kendle eventually found love and married Mone, an Iskalonian and the son of Primor, who led the School. She held deep affection for her husband and father-in-law, vowing to protect them at all costs. When the Galactic Empire arrived in the Iskalon system and started to dominate the neighboring worlds of Gamandar and Telfrey, Kendle became fearful for her world's future. She chose to assist the Empire, hoping to shield her family from similar destruction. When Rebel heroes Leia Organa, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywalker journeyed to Iskalon to begin talks with the School, Kendle made contact with Admiral Griggor Tower, who was in charge of the Imperial operation on Gamandar.
Kendle informed Tower about the Rebels' presence and then manipulated them by suggesting that what they sought was on Gamandar. Calrissian and Chewbacca decided to investigate, taking Mone, Kendle's husband, with them. After the Rebels left, Kendle contacted Tower again, revealing that the remaining two Rebels were exploring the underwater city of Pavillion. Unfortunately for Kendle, Kiro, another Iskalonian, overheard her betraying the Rebels to the Empire during this communication. Kiro was a strong supporter of the rebellion, fueled by the Empire's massacre of Iskalonians who had sought peace. Kiro attacked Kendle, attempting to kill her for her treachery, but the struggle resulted in both of their water helmets, which allowed them to enter Pavillion, being smashed. Kiro had to abandon his attempt to return to the ocean, leaving Kendle severely injured and unable to move.
As Kendle began to suffocate without her water helmet, Skywalker, Organa, and Primor discovered her predicament. Skywalker and Organa hurried into the city to help Kendle, while Primor watched with worry. The two Rebels reached the struggling Iskalonian, but it seemed they might be too late. However, unbeknownst to them, Kendle's information had led Admiral Tower to make a hasty decision. An interplanetary missile was launched at Pavillion in an attempt to eliminate Organa and Skywalker. The missile's massive explosion caused an immense tidal wave that crashed against Pavillion, destroying the underwater city. Fortunately for Kendle, the destruction of Pavillion allowed water to rush in, saving her from suffocation. After regaining consciousness, Kendle saw the two Rebels struggling to escape the wreckage and reach the surface. Enraged that the Imperials had gone to such extremes to destroy them, Kendle tried to mislead them, hoping to drown them. However, Kiro reappeared and tried to execute her once more. Kendle was forced to flee, allowing the two Rebels to eventually reach the surface.
Back on the surface, Kendle witnessed the devastation caused by her actions. Many Iskalonians had perished in the attack, including her beloved father-in-law. Kendle attempted to mourn Primor's death, but Kiro reappeared, still in pursuit. Kendle fled, only to return with members of the School in another attempt to eliminate the two Rebels. Kendle declared herself the School's new leader after Primor's death, accusing the Rebels of causing the catastrophe. The School attacked the Rebels and Kiro, but they managed to fend off the assault. However, the School continued to press, and Kendle seemed on the verge of victory. Unfortunately for her, a wild chiaki emerged from the depths just as her group prepared to deliver the final blow. As everyone scattered, the Millennium Falcon arrived and killed the creature. As the serpent died, it fell onto the battlefield, crushing Kendle and killing her instantly. The Millennium Falcon landed immediately afterward, and Mone exited, distraught over his wife's death and betrayal. He proclaimed himself the new leader of the School, declaring that they would no longer interact with air breathers due to the pain they had caused. The Rebels were forced to leave Iskalon, and the School departed the ruins of Pavillion.
Kendle was deeply devoted to her husband, Mone, and successfully gained the trust of the Rebels during their visit to Iskalon. However, beneath her image as Mone's loving wife, Kendle was cunning and manipulative, secretly working as an Imperial informant and briefly seizing control of the School after the tidal wave. During her short time as leader, Kendle displayed a fierce anger towards those she perceived as threats to her family and way of life, using the School's collective power as a weapon before her demise.
Kendle made her appearance in three issues of the original Marvel Star Wars comic series in 1983, with writing by Mary Jo Duffy and illustrations by Ron Frenz.
