Kessurian

The sentient species known as the Kessurians were characterized by their elongated ears and montrals, features that enhanced their sensory capabilities. Notably, Wilsa Teshlo, a Kessurian holding the title of thilas and the second in line to inherit the throne, chose to abandon her royal obligations, seeking instead a life of adventure with the Veiled Sorority pirate group. In 35 ABY, a Kessurian dance ensemble participated in the Aki-Aki Festival of the Ancestors.

Biology and appearance

Kessurians were humanoid sentient beings belonging to a distinct species. Their physical attributes commonly included red skin, extended and pointed ears, and horn-like montrals situated above their ears. Typically, their hair was brown in color. In addition to these features, they possessed rounded protuberances above their eyes and below their montrals. The skin on their ears, montrals, cheeks, and foreheads exhibited a mottled pattern, displaying lighter spots compared to the rest of their skin. Possessing a typical humanoid form, Kessurians had four limbs: two arms and two legs, with five-fingered hands. The species included at least two distinct sexes: male and female. Male Kessurians were capable of growing facial hair. It is also known that some Kessurians had the potential for Force sensitivity.

Society and culture

The structure of Kessurian society was that of a monarchy. Within this system, the individual who was next in succession to the throne held the designation of thilas.

Kessurians in the galaxy

During the High Republic Era, Estala Maru, a Kessurian Jedi Master, served as a member of the Jedi Order and was stationed at the space station Starlight Beacon.

Legend has it that during the Imperial Era, Gee'far, a Kessurian girl who was sensitive to the Force, was abducted from an orphanage on Gaaten by the Grand Inquisitor.

Following the era of the Galactic Empire, Wilsa Teshlo, the thilas who felt confined by her royal life, chose to leave her position and become a member of the Veiled Sorority pirate organization. Furthermore, a Kessurian dance company made an appearance at the Aki-Aki Festival of the Ancestors held on Pasaana in 35 ABY.

Behind the scenes

The Kessurians were initially introduced to audiences in Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, the 2019 saga film.
