The montrals of Shaak Ti
Montrals functioned as sensory organs. These organs were present on the heads of both the Togruta species and the Kessurians. For Togruta, these montrals took the form of cone-shaped horns, while Kessurians possessed montrals that appeared as spines protruding from the sides of their heads.
In the case of Togruta, montrals were hollow, horn-like cones that extended upwards from the top of their skulls. These structures served as an extrasensory organ, enabling them to perceive the movement of physical objects in their vicinity, with a range of up to 25 meters (equivalent to 82 feet). A Togruta's montrals increased in size as they aged. During adolescence, they were small bumps, but in adulthood, they grew significantly taller. Male Togruta exhibited montrals that were larger and more angular in comparison to those of females. On the planet Kiros, the architecture of the Togruta colony, which was under the leadership of Governor Gupat Roshti, mirrored the shape of montrals. The Duros bounty hunter Cad Bane, referring to them as "horns," was unaware that the Togruta's head-tails were actually called montrals.
Concerning Kessurians, montrals were positioned above their extended ears, functioning to amplify their sensory capabilities. This enhancement of their senses contributed to their proficiency in spatial awareness.
