Mon Julpa

Mon Julpa, whose name is pronounced /mɑn 'dʒul-pʌ/, held the rightful position as Crown Prince and later ascended to the role of King in Tammuz-an during the era of the Galactic Empire.

Biography

Mon Julpa disguised as a droid with Jann Tosh and R2-D2

A vizier from Tammuz-an named Zatec-Cha manipulated Mon through brainwashing, depriving him of his authority and memories. Subsequently, Zatec-Cha's operatives disguised Mon as an android. He was then sold to Jann Tosh, a young miner working on Tyne's Horky, who discovered Mon was actually a living being. Despite initial skepticism from his uncle Gundy, Mon diligently worked in the mines. They gave him the nickname "Kez-Iban," a Bocce term signifying "he who has returned from death."

Sollag, a resident of Tammuz-an, searched for his prince, eventually locating him and returning his royal scepter. Mon Julpa regained his memory and, accompanied by Tosh and his droids, journeyed back to Tammuz-an with the intention of reclaiming his rightful throne. Following numerous adventures, he presented the scepter to the Keeper of the Tower during the first sun of the equinox, thereby becoming the King of Tammuz-an.

After removing Zatec-Cha from power, Julpa commenced efforts to unify the two conflicting cultures within Tammuz-an. He contacted Lord Toda of the Outer Territories to establish a peace treaty. When the pirate Gir Kybo Ren-Cha kidnapped Toda's daughter, Princess Gerin, demanding ransom and taking her to a moon of Bogden, Toda and Julpa joined forces to rescue her. A romantic relationship developed between Julpa and Gerin, while Julpa and Toda formed a friendship, ultimately leading to the unification of Tammuz-an.

Behind the scenes

Mon Julpa, under the alias Kez Iban, was introduced as an action figure in 1985 as a component of Kenner's Star Wars Droids product line. While these action figures shared size compatibility with other Kenner Star Wars action figures, their design aesthetic distinguished them as a separate toy line. A second figure, identified as Mon Julpa, reached the prototype stage and was close to production, but was ultimately never released.

The voice of Mon Julpa was provided by Chris Wiggins.
