Sollag Den, alternatively known as Zolag, hailed from Tammuz-an and was classified as an alien. As a devoted subject of Prince Mon Julpa, he was instrumental in helping Julpa retain his dominion over the throne.
In the years leading up to the pivotal Battle of Yavin, Sollag made the startling discovery that Zatec-Cha, the royal vizier of Tammuz-an, had manipulated his arcane abilities to transform Prince Mon Julpa into a feeble-minded amnesiac. Zatec-Cha then exiled Julpa from the planet and initiated a scheme to seize the Tammuz-an Royal Scepter for his own nefarious purposes.
Sollag embarked on a widespread search for his missing prince. This quest eventually led him to the mining planet of Tyne's Horky, where he uncovered a bounty that had been placed on Mon Julpa's life. IG-88, a lethal assassin droid, had accepted the contract and was inbound to Tyne's Horky with the intent to eliminate Mon Julpa. Sollag ventured into Doodnik's Café and encountered Kleb Zellock, a bounty hunter with a criminal background. Disregarding Zellock's questionable ethics, Sollag proposed a deal, offering him 40,000 keshels to locate Mon Julpa before IG-88 could. The exorbitant sum was enough to sway Kleb, who promptly accepted the proposition.
Kleb would later betray Sollag, deciding that a royal prince from Tammuz-an was worth far more than a paltry 40,000 keshels. Sollag was crushed by this act of treachery. He soon discovered that Kleb had indeed captured Mon Julpa, forcing him to work as a laborer in his keschel mines. Sollag infiltrated Zellock's mining operation and orchestrated the rescue of Mon Julpa, along with several other slaves, including Jann Tosh, C-3PO, and R2-D2. Upon reuniting with his prince, Sollag presented him with the Tammuz-an Royal Scepter. Contact with the scepter reversed the effects of Zatec-Cha's magic, restoring Julpa's mental faculties. After their escape from Kleb Zellock's mining camp, they returned to Tammuz-an, where they successfully overthrew Zatec-Cha and reinstated Mon Julpa as the rightful ruler of the planet.
Sollag remained in Mon Julpa's service as an advisor during the Battle of Tammuz-an. He subsequently assisted in the negotiations with Lord Toda, the leader of the Outer Territories on Tammuz-an. Despite engaging in verbal disputes with Toda to defend his king, the two ultimately collaborated to rescue Toda's daughter, Princess Gerin, after she was abducted during an escape attempt orchestrated by the pirate Gir Kybo Ren-Cha.
Sollag's physical characteristics were typical of a native of Tammuz-an. He possessed a purple skin tone and a prominent mane of red hair. While traveling in the Outer Rim, Sollag favored simple clothing, but when on Tammuz-an, he donned the traditional, high-collared robes that were appropriate for his position.
Sollag often appeared to be a spineless and timid individual, but he harbored an unwavering loyalty to Prince Mon Julpa, and he would go to any length to ensure the prince's well-being. Sollag was a compassionate person who demonstrated profound gratitude towards Jann Tosh, C-3PO, and R2-D2 for their assistance in the prince's rescue.
John Stocker provided the voice for this character.
In the English subtitles of the Star Wars Animated Adventures: Droids DVD, Sollag's name is spelled "Zolag." However, original production artwork and the Jann Tosh entry in the Databank use the spelling "Sollag." Given that both versions originate from canonical Lucasfilm sources, it is reasonable to conclude that "Zolag" is simply an in-universe variant of the spelling "Sollag."
