Khaat Qiyn was a human female Jedi Knight who served the Jedi Order near the end of the Galactic Republic's era. Leading up to the Invasion of Naboo, she took Bairdon Jace as her apprentice. The pair had a brief encounter with the Sith apprentice, Darth Maul. They later fought together in the First Battle of Geonosis as part of the Jedi assault team. She was a frequent practitioner of Form V lightsaber combat.
Sometime before the Invasion of Naboo, Khaat Qiyn and her Padawan, Bairdon Jace, were on patrol in the Coruscant Underworld. Little did they know, the Sith apprentice Darth Maul was observing them from the shadows. As they moved through the crowds of various alien species, Qiyn remarked to her Padawan that she felt a presence watching them, and he agreed, adding that he felt a coldness. Qiyn then warned Jace that shadows could hold great rage, enough to consume a person.
Jace, jumping to conclusions, suggested that their senses might be deceiving them, as he couldn't see anything. Remaining calm, Khaat Qiyn advised him to stay focused and to always trust in the Force, while warning that such distractions could lead to his downfall.
By the year 22 BBY, the Galactic Republic and the growing Confederacy of Independent Systems were experiencing increasingly strained relations. After Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo survived multiple assassination attempts by a bounty hunter named Jango Fett, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi tracked Fett to Geonosis, where he discovered the Separatists' droid army development. He then sent a hologram to the Jedi Temple with his findings. Shortly after, the Jedi was captured. Mace Windu decided to gather a Jedi assault team of over two hundred Jedi to destroy the Separatist droid army and rescue Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Amidala, who had followed Kenobi to the planet.
Khaat Qiyn and Jace were among the Jedi sent to Geonosis as part of the Jedi assault team. Upon their arrival, they infiltrated the arena, remaining hidden until the opportune time. After Windu confronted Count Dooku, the Separatist leader, the Separatists deployed their droid army, prompting the Jedi to reveal themselves. Facing thousands of droids, Khaat activated her blue lightsaber and, alongside her fellow Jedi, engaged the droid army, cutting down her adversaries one by one.
As the battle intensified, the droid forces began to overwhelm the Jedi, with many being shot down. However, before they could be defeated, Grand Master Yoda arrived with a clone army to evacuate the remaining Jedi. With these reinforcements, the Jedi spearheaded the invasion of Geonosis, marking the beginning of the Clone Wars.
Khaat Qiyn demonstrated the ability to sense the presence of the Sith Lord Darth Maul. During the First Battle of Geonosis, she effectively employed Form V in combat to defeat her enemies.
Khaat's primary weapon in battle was a blue lightsaber. She typically wore standard Jedi robes, but like many Jedi, she removed her outer robe when engaged in combat.
