Kirdo III, often shortened to just Kirdo, was a planet situated within the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. It served as the original homeworld for the Kitonak species. During his return journey from Rodia, Luke Skywalker established a fresh hyperspace route connecting Kirdo with Orto Plutonia. Chindinkalu plants naturally grew on Kirdo III. The Kitonak musician known as Droopy McCool fashioned his Chindinkalu flute from a chindinkalu plant with a hollow interior; he played this flute at Jabba's Palace in 4 ABY during the Rescue of Han Solo.
The initial mention of Kirdo III occurred in Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races, a Star Wars Legends sourcebook from 1989 authored by [Troy Denning] for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Its entry into canon came through its mention as Kirdo in the 2015 novel Heir to the Jedi. However, its full designation as Kirdo III was first confirmed in the Star Wars: Card Trader card titled Droopy McCool - Chindinkalu Flute Player, which featured comprehensive information about Droopy McCool.
