Laser Tethers were energy-based cables, manifested as crackling yellow electricity, that originated from specialized belts. These tethers, which visually resembled solid energy, possessed a limited range, compelling those bound by them to remain in close proximity, thereby promoting close-quarters combat situations. While only one user needed to wear a belt to generate the tether, the lasers had a relatively short lifespan, fading out and requiring a recharge before they could be reactivated. However, if two or more individuals linked their belts together, the tether would remain powered indefinitely, only ceasing when one of the participants deactivated their belt to sever the connection.

In 9 ABY, Charr, a Trandoshan Hunter, employed a Laser Tether during the Hunters of the Outer Rim competition, which took place within the Grand Arena on the planet Vespaara. During the same year, Carasynthia Dune, a former Rebel shock trooper, also utilized one of these tethers in a duel held at the Common House on Sorgan. This forced her opponent to concede and deactivate their belt shortly before she was recruited by Din Djarin, the Mandalorian, to assist in defeating the Imperial remnant that had seized control of Greef Karga's city on Nevarro.
