Leia's lightsaber
After the revelation of her Force-sensitive nature, Leia Organa Solo, throughout her time as a Jedi within the New Jedi Order, wielded multiple lightsabers.
History
Thrawn campaign
Leia crafted her initial lightsaber under the tutelage of her brother, Luke Skywalker. During the events of the Thrawn campaign in 9 ABY, Mara Jade employed this weapon, which possessed a green blade, to eliminate both Luuke Skywalker and Joruus C'baoth.
Dark Empire campaign
During Operation Shadow Hand occurring in 10 ABY, Leia briefly wielded a 10,000 year old lightsaber, acquired from an ancient Jedi Knight known as Vima-Da-Boda. On the planet Byss, she utilized it to sever the hand of an Imperial Sentinel before [Darth Sidious](/article/palpatine-legends] caused it to explode. Later, aboard the Eclipse, Leia engaged Luke, who had been manipulated into becoming Sidious' apprentice, in a duel using a lightsaber of unspecified origin, ultimately persuading him to reject the dark side.
Duel with Beldorion
Its blade momentarily shifted to a pale blue hue when she fought and defeated the fallen Hutt Jedi Beldorion on Nam Chorios in 13 ABY.
Red lightsaber
In 18 ABY, Luke presented her with a second lightsaber, featuring a ruby-red blade, which he had constructed himself. This lightsaber was described as being smaller in size compared to her previous weapon.
Later career
While training with Saba Sebatyne, Leia had her previous lightsabers confiscated by her new [Jedi Master](/article/jedi_master-legends], who stated that they no longer reflected her abilities. Sebatyne suggested that Leia should construct a new lightsaber, one suitable for a fully realized [Jedi Knight](/article/jedi_knight-legends]. Subsequently, Leia built a lightsaber with a blue blade, which she employed throughout the Swarm War and beyond.
Inconsistencies
Despite the explicit mention of Leia's initial lightsaber as "green-white" in Chapter 24 of Dark Force Rising and Chapter 27 of The Last Command, its green appearance in the fifth issue of the comic adaptation of Dark Force Rising and on the cover of The Last Command, it was depicted as blue in the sixth issue of the comic adaptation of The Last Command and described as blue in Planet of Twilight.
Behind the scenes
When questioned about her preferred lightsaber color during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert while promoting her book, The Princess Diarist, Carrie Fisher expressed her fondness for the color purple.
