A containment level five, also referred to as a level five lockdown, was a specific situation employed by the Galactic Republic. Following the conclusion of the Clone Wars in 19 BBY, and the execution of the Jedi Order via Order 66 carried out by the Republic's clone trooper army, many clone divisions were summoned back to the planet of Kamino. The security teams currently on Kamino were instructed to report to the command center, as Tipoca City was placed under a level five lockdown. Upon the arrival of Clone Force 99's clone commandos in the city, after they broadcasted their clearance code to two V-wing starfighters to be permitted to land, an announcement throughout the facility confirmed the lockdown was still in effect, which caused confusion among the commando squad who thought it was merely a training exercise.
The concept of level five lockdowns was first presented in "Aftermath," the debut episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch's animated television series' first season. This episode was broadcast on Disney+ on May 4 of 2021. The designation of this procedure as a containment level five was established in the junior novelization of The Bad Batch, written by S.T. Bende and published in 2023.
