The Exocron Liberation, which took place in 8 ABY, was a coordinated two-part offensive on the planet Exocron. This operation was carried out by both the crew of the New Republic vessel FarStar and local rebel forces against the ruling Devisors.
The New Republic ship, the FarStar, located the concealed planet of Exocron within the Kathol Outback in 8 ABY. This planet had been cut off from the rest of the galaxy for a considerable period, hidden within a gas nebula that resulted from a failed protostar. The Devisors, who prohibited space travel, were in control.
After a probe droid that they had deployed failed to return, Captain Kaiya Adrimetrum of the FarStar gave the order for a manned reconnaissance mission to the planet to retrieve the missing droid. This mission led to an encounter with Captain Horzao Darr of the sky-dreadnaught Maxion, who then invited the New Republic crew to meet with the Devisors in the capital city of Caballa City.
Following the meeting, the Devisor Pagda Gevtes declared that, to ensure the safety and continued security of Exocron, the FarStar crew would be detained on the planet indefinitely, and their ship would be seized. Captain Adrimetrum was taken away for interrogation, and a powerful tractor beam was activated, locking onto the FarStar in orbit and beginning to pull it towards the planet's surface.
Disgusted by the Devisors' treatment of the off-worlders, especially after the crew had aided in the defense of the cruiser, Desaclates, Captain Darr managed to gain custody of the remaining crew members. He escorted them to the residence of Eida Sharden, an insurgent within Caballa City. Opposition to the Devisors' authority had been a persistent issue for the ruling class ever since the colony ship Exocros Cabal had reached the planet. Some members of the population believed that the Devisors were depriving them of their rightful inheritance, but the Devisors maintained their dominance through their control of advanced technology.
Sharden and her fellow insurgents pledged to assist the FarStar crew in freeing their ship and rescuing their captain, recognizing that such action would lead to the downfall of the Devisors. Sharden supplied the crew with information regarding the location of their X-wing fighters, which were essential for disabling the tractor beam generator.

Acting on the intelligence provided by Eida Sharden, Captain Horzao Darr transported the New Republic pilots to a military hangar where their starfighters were being held. Using his position as captain of the Airfleet flagship, he stated that he was there to examine the fighters, and that the New Republic crew were there to assist him. However, the arrival of a Devisor, who genuinely wanted to study the fighters, complicated the situation. A gunfight ensued, after which the New Republic pilots took off in their X-wings.

As they sped toward the bunker, they discovered that it was defended by an Airfleet rocket cruiser, the Bremarc, along with eight Skyraptor skyfighters. The Bremarc unleashed a barrage of rockets at the New Republic X-wings, which the agile fighters managed to evade. They engaged the Skyraptors, using their superior agility and firepower to overcome them. With a clear path, the X-wings launched a proton torpedo strike against the bunker, but discovered that their weapons were unable to penetrate the thick walls. They realized that they had to drop their torpedoes through the narrow opening in the bunker where the tractor beam was being emitted. However, a second wave of Skyraptors engaged the X-wings before they could initiate a second attack run.
After dealing with the second wave of Skyraptors, the X-wings commenced their second attack run, releasing their torpedoes through the narrow opening. The torpedoes successfully destroyed the tractor beam generator, freeing the FarStar.
Equipped with repulsorlift personal jump packs, members of the FarStar's crew conducted an aerial insertion into the Ministry of Technology from the Maxion. Moving swiftly through the building, the team encountered a Devisor who raised the alarm. After fighting through several squads of Ministry guards, the team eventually reached the cell where Captain Adrimetrum was being held. They freed her and prepared to evacuate the building.
While navigating the Ministry, the team was attacked by the Devisor Pagda Gevtes in his personal walker. Engaging the walker, one of the team members used a flash pistol to temporarily blind Gevtes, luring the walker towards a stairwell. Unable to navigate the stairwell, the walker toppled and fell. Gevtes was trapped and subsequently arrested by forces from the Maxion.
The destruction of their tractor beam generator, combined with the revelation that others possessed advanced technology, shattered the Devisors grip on power. In return for their assistance, Captain Kaiya Adrimetrum provided technical information and specifications on spaceflight and navigation computers to all who requested it. Armed with this new knowledge and their newfound freedom, the people of Exocron began to integrate into the galactic community, establishing the Exocron Combined Air-Space Fleet.
