The lightsaber pike, alternatively referred to as the Jedi Temple Guard lightsaber, was a lightsaber type that shared similarities with the double-bladed lightsaber. It was characterized by two rare yellow plasma blades extending from both ends of a staff, and its primary users were the members of the Jedi Temple Guard.

The lightsaber pike was a lightsaber variation of significant size and design. It bore a resemblance to the double-bladed lightsaber in that it took the form of a staff. This staff had two distinct yellow plasma blades emanating from each of its ends. Certain lightsaber pikes were designed with a haft that, upon activation, would project a shoto blade, extending the weapon's length to two or three meters. Furthermore, a hinged version of the pike existed. Darth Bane possessed a unique lightsaber pike featuring a single blade and an exceptionally long handle. Luke Skywalker also possessed a single-blade variant, which, due to its damaged state, was modified into a standard hilt.

Darth Bane, an ancient Sith Lord, wielded a distinctive lightsaber pike that featured an unusual fiery orange blade.
The Jedi Temple Guards, who were Knights of the Jedi Order entrusted with safeguarding the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, utilized lightsaber pikes. During the Clone Wars period, these weapons were employed during Ahsoka Tano's Jedi trial to restrain Anakin Skywalker following the Council's decision. Subsequently, they were used to cordon off the duel between Anakin and Padawan Barriss Offee, and to escort her to the Republic military base.
Some years after the Clone Wars concluded, [Kanan Jarrus](/article/kanan_jarrus] experienced a Force vision where he observed a lightsaber pike displayed on a wall rack alongside other lightsabers. The Jedi Temple Guards, the Grand Inquisitor included, possessed a lightsaber pike that could be folded.
In 3 ABY, Luke Skywalker ventured into an abandoned Jedi outpost, where he discovered a damaged lightsaber pike positioned next to a set of Jedi Temple Guard armor. Skywalker claimed the pike and immediately used it to defend himself against The Grand Inquisitor's red-bladed lightsaber. Skywalker then utilized the still-functional portion of the lightsaber and repaired the damaged end, converting it into a standard lightsaber until he constructed his own lightsaber.

The initial appearance of the lightsaber pike occurred in The Force Unleashed, a 2008 Star Wars Legends novel authored by Sean Williams.
During the planning stages of "The Wrong Jedi," the lightsaber pikes wielded by the Jedi Temple Guards were originally intended to have green blades. However, the decision was made to change their color to yellow, marking them as the first lightsabers to canonically feature a yellow blade.

A lightsaber pike with a single blade, designated as the "Sith lightsaber pike," was conceived for Darth Bane's use in "Sacrifice," the thirteenth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' sixth season, a canon animated series. However, it was ultimately omitted from the final version of the episode. This particular iteration of the weapon more closely resembled the lightsaber pike as it was portrayed in the non-canon Legends continuity. The weapon's existence was subsequently canonized in 2021 with the publication of the reference book Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith.
