Luke Skywalker's residence was a hut of gray stone, constructed from various rock elements. It was situated in the Jedi village found on Temple Island on the planet Ahch-To. This hut functioned as the dwelling for the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker subsequent to his self-imposed exile. This exile followed the destruction of his Jedi temple caused by his nephew, Kylo Ren. Skywalker resided there until 34 ABY, at which point the Force-sensitive scavenger Rey persuaded him to train her. Her training was meant to help the Resistance in their war against the First Order.
In the initial stages of development for the 2017 movie Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, the original plan involved Luke Skywalker being visited by the Force spirit of a powerful Sith Lord while he was meditating in his hut. This Sith Lord was described as having controlled the Dark side of the Force from the Netherworld of the Force, secretly "pulling Supreme Leader Snoke's strings" from behind the scenes.
