The lyuna, a four-legged creature, was characterized by its elongated neck, a pair of prominent, spiky humps on its back, hooved feet, and a tail. Despite their reputation for obstinacy, they were valued for their diligence. Native to Loreth, a celestial body situated in the Galactic Frontier, lyuna found widespread use throughout the frontier territories. These animals served as both riding steeds, accommodated with a saddle positioned between their humps, and draft animals for pulling carts.
Settlers in Wyke Town, a Loreth colony established by Layton Wyke during the High Republic Era, employed lyuna. Following an attack on the town by a Gretalax originating from the neighboring Temple Peak mountain, Wyke enlisted the services of Ty Yorrick, a monster hunter, to deal with the threat. Yorrick took on the task, riding a lyuna, provided by the townsfolk, to the summit of Temple Peak.
On Dalna, lyuna were utilized as draft animals to haul carts, transporting both people and goods. The Path of the Open Hand also relied on these animals for transportation and supply, housing them in a barn and providing them with straw for sustenance.
