Malkii represents a celestial body, specifically a planet, where the musician known as Tu-Wane Jipps found himself entangled in unfavorable circumstances. As a result, he incurred a substantial debt to the criminal figure Tobias Beckett sometime before the events of 10 BBY.

The planet Malkii is referenced within the current Star Wars canon through the narrative "Tales of Villainy: Credits." This narrative constitutes the second story featured in the fourth issue of the 2020 comic series titled Star Wars Adventures. The narrative was penned by Jordan Clark and brought to publication by IDW Publishing on March 24, 2021. The concept of Malkii initially emerged within the Star Wars Legends continuity as a designated planet. Its presence was first alluded to through the use of its demonym, "Malkite," in the 1979 novel titled Han Solo's Revenge, which was authored by Brian Daley. Subsequently, it was explicitly identified as "Malkii" within the 1984 reference work A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, which was authored by Raymond L. Velasco.
