The sculpted object known as the Mark of Honor was given as an award. It was bestowed upon a spacer who demonstrated their virtue and honor by completing a task during the Galactic Civil War in an effort to become a hero. When joined with the other "Mark" sculptures, specifically the Mark of Intellect, Mark of Courage, and Mark of Altruism, it contributed to the formation of a sphere.
This sculpture was obtained by a spacer in 1 ABY while undertaking a task given by an unusual Rodian hermit. The spacer displayed true honor by helping a married ranching couple, Roric and Helen Goldenfield, keep some captured pirates from escaping their ranch as the husband left to get law enforcement involved.
The 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, featured the Mark of Honor before the game shut down on December 15, 2011. The Mark of Honor was integrated into the game through the "Hero of Tatooine" questline, which was released with "Publish 9" on June 29, 2004. With the introduction of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005, the "Hero of Tatooine" questline underwent significant changes, but the quest rewards, including the "Mark of Honor," remained the same.
