Meerou Woodring, an Orooturooian crime lord, possessed an asteroid fortress known as Meerou's fortress. This asteroid base was heavily guarded, featuring many sentry droids and powerful weapons systems. Within the fortress, Woodring held several Gamorrean slaves imprisoned, compelling them to mine the asteroid's resources. Sidon Ithano, a pirate captain, and his crew devised a scheme to seize the former Separatist frigate that belonged to the pirate leader Gruk. As part of this plan, Ithano dispatched Squeaky, a Gamorrean member of his crew, to infiltrate the asteroid and incite a rebellion among the enslaved Gamorreans. Quiggold, Ithano's first mate, deliberately allowed Gruk's pirates to capture him. Gruk, oblivious to Ithano's true intentions, planned to send Ithano into Meerou's fortress, anticipating that Ithano would be killed, thus weakening the fortress for Gruk's own takeover. However, Ithano, aided by the Gamorreans, successfully seized control of the fortress. Following his crew's capture of Gruk's frigate, they utilized the asteroid fortress to amplify the starship's hyperwave scanners, enabling them to locate other abandoned Separatist ships. Simultaneously, Squeaky orchestrated a situation where the Gamorreans would assume control of the asteroid.
