Mek-Sha

Mek-Sha was an autonomous fuel depot constructed inside a mined asteroid. Previously under the control of the Hutt Cartel, it provided shelter for diverse groups, such as smugglers, pirates, traders, and refugees.

Description

The mining station that would eventually be called Mek-Sha was built by the Hutt Cartel within an asteroid. The operation was challenging to sustain due to its limited [fuel](/article/fuel-legends] reserves, and the expansion of the mine network threatened the station's structural integrity. The station was also used to search for [exonium](/article/exonium-legends] deposits.

Following Huttbreaker's Rebellion, it received its current name, and leadership was assumed by a council consisting of the five most prominent factions: Junker Jott's crew, The Brothers, Dar'manda, Harido Wald, and Huttbreaker's crew. Since the uprising, Mek-Sha has served as a haven for various outlaws, including smugglers, slavers, and mercenaries. The ruling council addressed the operational difficulties by granting fuel rights to those who could secure a majority vote from the crews.

Mek-Sha was defended by a mighty shield and a failsafe mechanism that could render the fuel unusable in the event of a new revolt or invasion.

History

Origins

Mek-Sha's streets

Initially explored by geologists, the Hutt Cartel member Loddu forcibly claimed the asteroid, dissatisfied with his share of the profits from the Cartel's takeover of Makeb. Within a few months, Loddu had transformed it into a densely populated area by importing slaves and guards. In an effort to challenge his rivals' operations on Makeb, he accelerated resource exploration and demanded the use of explosives to expedite mining efforts. This resulted in a massive explosion that killed Loddu and numerous other inhabitants.

Huttbreaker's Rebellion

Subsequently, Prava, a Hutt who was Loddu's subordinate, reluctantly took control of the operation. Upon arriving at the station, he discovered that the explosion had uncovered a substantial deposit of resources.

While Prava's attention was diverted outside the station during the Conquest of Makeb, a young slave named Gritha Dar inspired others to join her in rebellion against the Hutt. Huttbreaker's Rebellion caught Prava and his mercenaries by surprise, and the revolution swiftly concluded with the rebels emerging victorious.

Galactic War

During the new conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, Mek-Sha served as a refueling point for a Republic Navy fleet en route to defend Corellia.
