A mission unfolded on the planet Onderon around the year 3627 BBY, amidst the larger struggle between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic.
Three years after claiming the throne, King Regalun Petryph became consumed by a desire to exploit his planet's valuable resources for personal gain. However, his plans faced resistance from Senator Deja Nebet and his council of nobles. To evade their scrutiny, Petryph withdrew to his royal hunting lodge, inadvertently making himself vulnerable to the manipulations of Darth Savik of the Dark Council.
Because Onderon served as a crucial refueling point for a Republic fleet destined to reinforce Corellia, where the Empire was planning an assault on the Meridian Complex, Savik devised a scheme to seize the planet's anti-orbital defense cannons, catching the fleet off guard. Savik also aimed to secure Onderon's resources for the Empire. To achieve this, she manipulated Petryph, making him believe that Nebet and the nobles were plotting to overthrow him, igniting a civil war that would distract from her agents' efforts to reach the cannon controls.
Even Mandalore the Avenger was drawn to the planet after discovering the location of Mandalorian deserters known as the Ash'ad. Their leader, Mirli Lok, had struck a deal with King Regalun Petryph: in exchange for the right to hunt the planet's creatures, they would offer tribute from their kills and occasionally bring him creatures from other worlds. Consequently, members of the Ash'ad were seen in the Royal Hunting Lodge. Shae established her people in the city of Iziz and eventually assigned the task of hunting down the Ash'ad and recovering their armor from their bodies.
