In the period around 1 ABY, Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker embarked on a secret diplomatic mission to Tibrin, a planet situated at the edge of the Hadar sector. They disguised themselves as envoys from Naboo's House Berenko, feigning interest in negotiating a trade agreement, with the true objective of persuading the native Ishi Tib to support the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Mariod Govi was on the planet of Tibrin, attempting to dissuade Princess Leia Organa from her plan to infiltrate the Galactic Empire as an Imperial officer to save Luke Skywalker. she argued that the Empire had harmed two of their guests and captured another. She stated that if this wasn't enough to sway the Ishi Tib Kalikeedan to the Rebel Alliance, then she could offer no further assistance, and subsequently departed to rescue Luke.
Aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer known as the Stormbringer, Luke Skywalker was connected to an Imperial torture device, poised to be tortured by Captain Davin Bryce in an attempt to extract information, an act Bryce hoped would lead to his advancement.
Leia Organa's arrival in the Stormbringer's hangar was intercepted by two stormtroopers during her check-in. Leia fabricated a story, claiming to be a transfer from the Malevolence, which allowed her to proceed as one of the stormtroopers attempted to flirt with her. Leia enlisted the help of one of the stormtroopers, TK-5648, to escort her. As they approached an elevator, another stormtrooper in the hangar realized her ID was fraudulent, but an explosion prevented him from intervening. Leia had detonated a Thermal detonator on her shuttle, causing the blast. TK-5648 turned around and Leia swiftly incapacitated him, depositing him unconscious in the elevator with a warning against flirting while on duty. She entered a control room and falsely reported rebel activity at Hangar 14 to clear the room. Once alone, she obtained TK-5648's code cylinder and used it to map a route to Luke Skywalker.
Back in the torture chamber, the interrogation device moved closer to Luke as one of Captain Bryce's officers reported the absence of rebels on board, yet the Captain ordered the search to continue. Leia, navigating through a garbage compactor, could hear Luke's cries through the ventilation system. Bryce questioned the ownership of Luke's lightsaber, disbelieving it belonged to him or that he was a Jedi. Leia reached the room by crawling through the vents and stunned the stormtroopers and Captain Bryce just before Luke was about to be tortured by the machine.
