The multiscreen was a device utilized by the Kilji species' government, specifically the Kilji Illumine, to project recordings across multiple screens, though it suffered from inadequate magnification. In 18 BBY, Generalirius Nakirre, who headed the Illumine, had a multiscreen situated within a conference space on his Kilji war cruiser, known as the Whetstone.
While Chiss Captain Clarr'os'culry was visiting the cruiser, Nakirre's Grysk associate, "Jixtus", employed the multiscreen to showcase recordings depicting Chiss light cruisers and other vessels attacking the freighter called Saltbarrel. Due to the multiscreen's limited magnification when displaying these recordings, the captain purchased them and delivered them to Patriarch Clarr'ivl'exow of the Chiss Clarr family, hoping to conduct a more thorough examination of the ships.
The multiscreen made its debut in Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, a 2021 novel and the concluding installment of Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy penned by Timothy Zahn.
