These people were the offspring of the initial group of colonists banished to Jelucan because they remained faithful to their king. Similar to the rest of his family, he possessed blonde hair and a fair complexion. When Ciena Ree reached the age of thirteen years old, he faced accusations of misusing his role as an Imperial communications monitor by divulging details of confidential gatherings and correspondence. Consequently, a formal grievance was lodged with the regional Imperial governor.
Because challenging someone's honor was considered unacceptable within the first-wave culture of Jelucan, the other families demonstrated their support for the Nierres by displaying flags in front of their residence and dispatching a relative to reside with them. Just as with her own family, Ciena was of the opinion that there should be no reason to conceal information from the Empire, and she viewed the Nierres' detractors as lacking honor. The honor of Nierre's family was also on the line, as it was thought that they would forever carry the burden of his shame if the complaint was validated.
Ultimately, Nierre's accusers withdrew their claims and embraced the official Imperial account of the situation. Nierre, along with his family and their allies, including the Rees, celebrated the Nierre family's exoneration. Years afterwards, as Ciena Ree readied her Star Destroyer for impact with the surface of Jakku, she remembered savoring Mr. Nierre's snow-frosted cake.
