Plot summary

The stolen gem

Affie Hollow reminds Leox Gyasi that he had previously stated the ruins were abandoned, this occurs amidst a confusing labyrinth of ancient ruins. Leox counters, stating that their client assured them that no one had inhabited the location for centuries. As a group of armed humans starts to surround them, Affie expresses her doubt. Leox concedes to her point.

Affie questions if these individuals are raiders, also in pursuit of the stone. Leox dismisses the idea, stating that raiders typically don't operate with such a large group. Affie expresses her concern for Geode, but Leox assures her that Geode is well-hidden in a nearby crevice, utilizing his camouflage skills. Affie complains about the perceived ease of their next job being incorrect. Leox responds that this task is less difficult than confronting the Drengir and the Hutts. While running away from the "raiders," Leox mentions that he at least believed it would be less complicated.

Affie suggests going back to the Vessel to get their blasters. Leox reminds her that he dislikes using weapons. Affie counters that she dislikes dying even more, before leaping over one of the overgrown maze walls. As they approach the Vessel, with the mob closely following, Affie swears off taking another treasure hunting job. Leox concurs. Upon reaching the Vessel's gangplank, Leox expresses his desire to avoid harming anyone.

Making amends

As Affie reaches for her blaster, she agrees with Leox, but reminds him that the locals intend to harm them. Leox understands that the Sun Jewel holds a significance beyond a simple gemstone for the locals. The locals accuse the offworlders of being thieves. Affie urges Leox to act quickly. Leox decides that using weapons will only worsen the situation, opting instead to reason with the locals. He apologizes for taking the gemstone, explaining that they were misinformed about its importance. Realizing their mistake, he offers to give back the gemstone.

An older woman responds by saying that the offworlders should have been more careful about what they believed. She thanks them for giving back the Sun Jewel, even though it is too late. When Affie asks what she means by "too late," the woman explains that the sun will soon be at the point that marks the path of their Prophetess. Because they won't have enough time to put the Sun Jewel back in its place, she says that the Prophetess' light won't shine this year.

Leox responds that they might have a solution to the problem. To fix the problem, Leox puts the Sun Jewel on Geode. Affie tells Leox that they will definitely remind Geode about this later. Leox says that Geode will keep telling the story until he dies. The woman thanks them for showing that the Prophetess' path will always be clear and invites the offworlders to join them at their feast. Leox accepts the invitation.

At the feast, the two eat meat and corn. Leox asks Affie to promise him that their next job will be easy. Affie replies that she just got a message from a Jedi friend asking for transport to Starlight Beacon. Leox says that their job doesn't get much easier than that.
