Novanian grog was a variety of grog. Nien Nunb, the Sullustan Rebel pilot, was acquainted with a bartender skilled in preparing excellent Novanian grog; this bartender was employed at the Eladro City bazaar located on the planet Basteel. During Operation Yellow Moon, following the Battle of Hoth, when the pilot was with an Alliance to Restore the Republic unit that traveled to Basteel, he wished to rediscover the bartender and enjoy more of the grog. The Sullustan succeeded in finding and consuming some of the grog, but he was soon compelled to go back to his yacht, the Mellcrawler, because Imperial stormtroopers had started to search the city.
The Star Wars Legends novel Han Solo at Stars' End, penned by Brian Daley in 1979, marked the initial appearance of Novanian grog. Subsequently, the grog received its inaugural canon reference in Jason Fry and Cecil Castellucci's 2015 novel Moving Target: A Princess Leia Adventure.
