Following the conclusion of the Clone Wars, the Galactic Empire seized control of the planet Raxus Secundus, which previously served as the capital for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. During this period of control, a planet-wide curfew was implemented, and numerous senators who opposed the presence of the Empire were taken into custody, including Avi Singh.
During the Clone Wars conflict, Raxus functioned as the primary governing planet for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Separatist senators gathered in the planet's primary city of Raxulon for discussions on political issues. With the disbanding of the Separatist Alliance and the war's end, Raxus came under the authority of the Republic's successor, the Galactic Empire.
The newly formed Empire acted swiftly to establish a presence of occupying forces on the planet. The planet's main city, Raxulon, experienced a notable Imperial presence because of the civil unrest triggered by the Empire's control. In an attempt to subdue the public's anger, Captain Bragg, who was assigned leadership of the occupation, compelled the Raxus senator Avi Singh to declare his allegiance to the Empire and persuade Raxulon's residents to accept their presence. Instead, Singh openly resisted the Empire, which ignited a riot. Imperial stormtroopers, accompanied by multiple AT-TEs, were deployed to suppress the rioters, and a planet-wide curfew was enforced. Singh's droid, GS-8, made contact with the renegade mercenary clone unit, Clone Force 99, to coordinate the senator's liberation and removal.
The "Bad Batch" soon made their way to the planet to commence their operation. Although the unit successfully rescued Singh, their presence was quickly detected by the Imperials, resulting in an intense exchange of fire in the streets against clone stormtroopers. Seizing control of an AT-TE, the unit traveled to the city's outer boundaries and made their escape through a concealed passage, successfully extracting Avi Singh from the planet. Despite Singh's successful rescue, Raxus remained under the control of the Imperial forces.
