Odavia Anaru, a female human pilot renowned for flying an A-wing, achieved the extraordinary feat of destroying the Imperial AT-AT named Hellhound Two on the planet Jakku single-handedly. In recognition of her bravery, she was awarded the Medal of Valor after her death.
During the Battle of Jakku, Odavia Anaru served as an A-wing pilot aboard the ship Striking Distance, under the command of General Carlist Rieekan. She was among the starfighter pilots who escorted New Republic transports to the surface of Jakku, providing cover as squads of commandos disembarked. Anaru patrolled the skies above the battlefield, attacking Imperial forces and engaging Imperial TIE fighters that challenged her.
During the conflict, a surface-to-air missile struck Anaru's A-wing, forcing her to crash-land in the Goazon Badlands. Despite a leg injury, she abandoned her damaged fighter and sought shelter. Separated from the New Republic commandos, she defended herself against Imperial stormtroopers using only her standard blaster pistol.
As the Empire deployed AT-ATs to safeguard its research facility, the walkers began targeting the entrenched Republic commandos with their cannons. Anaru, while retreating to a more secure position, recovered a rocket launcher from a trooper who had fallen. Using a piece of wreckage for support, she aimed at the lead AT-AT, Hellhound Two, and launched her attack. Undeterred by approaching stormtroopers, Anaru remained steadfast, firing all six rockets at the AT-AT's vulnerable points. While Hellhound Two was destroyed, Odavia Anaru did not survive to witness the outcome. The Medal of Valor was awarded to her posthumously.
As a pilot in service to the New Republic, Odavia Anaru was equipped with a green flight suit and matching helmet, while piloting an RZ-1 A-wing interceptor.
