The Ootmian Pabol represented a specific hyperspace route situated inside the territory known as Hutt Space. Sidon Ithano, a Delphanian privateer, possessed a letter of marque that legally authorized him to execute raids on the Ootmian Pabol, as well as Pabol Hutta, Shag Pabol, and all other non-religious hyperlanes located throughout Hutt Space. Furthermore, this letter permitted him to transport any captured goods resulting from these raids to the Hutt kajidics that sponsored him, namely the Desilijic, Ramesh, Besadii, Gnuda, and Shell.
The inaugural reference to the Ootmian Pabol within the current Star Wars canon appeared within a supplementary piece included with the deluxe version of the 2018 reference work titled Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, authored by Daniel Wallace.
