Orbital Security Station Six

Security Station Six, Orbiting Coruscant, functioned as a security station in the Legends continuity. This station orbited Coruscant, which served as the capital planet for the Galactic Republic. Its primary function was monitoring starship traffic during 3653 BBY. At this time, the galaxy was embroiled in the Great Galactic War, a major conflict between the Republic and a reconstituted Sith Empire. Ostensibly seeking peace, the Sith and Republic representatives convened on Alderaan for negotiations. However, this was a deceptive ploy by the Sith to enable their fleet to launch a direct attack on Coruscant. Orbital Security Station Six became the first facility to encounter the approaching Sith warships, and it requested the appropriate clearance codes from the Sith flotilla. Shortly thereafter, the satellite was obliterated by a concentrated barrage of turbolaser fire from the Sith fleet before the invasion of the planet began.

Description

Serving as an orbital satellite, Orbital Security Station Six was utilized by Coruscant Security to keep watch over starship traffic entering and exiting Coruscant, the capital planet of the Galactic Republic. It performed this function alongside other orbital security stations assigned to various planets across the galaxy. The station was painted in red and gray hues and its shape bore a resemblance to an Aurebesh sigil. Two cylinders, marked with blue and black panels, decorated one side of the station. A system was in place to transport personnel to and from the station as their shifts changed. Inside, the station featured designated rooms where personnel monitored the skylanes, aided by various instruments, including computers. A subspace transceiver was included in the station's equipment, enabling communication with Coruscant Control and other ships.

History

In 3653 BBY, Orbital Security Station Six was positioned in orbit around Coruscant, where it monitored starship traffic for Coruscant Security. Femi, a female Rutian Twi'lek working aboard the station, reported to a dispatcher via radio, stating that there were no ships in her vicinity. Subsequently, Femi detected an approaching armada entering Coruscanti space. Taken aback by their sudden arrival, she requested clearance codes. The reformed Sith Empire and the Republic were engaged in discussions on Alderaan regarding the conclusion of the Great Galactic War, a conflict spanning the galaxy for nearly three decades. The unexpected arrival of the Sith fleet caught Femi by surprise. Instead of providing a response, the Sith fleet, under the command of Sith Lord Angral, destroyed Orbital Security Station Six, killing the entire crew. Angral ordered his ship to open fire on the satellite. This event marked the beginning of the Sacking of Coruscant, a devastating battle that had significant repercussions for the Republic, ultimately forcing the government to cede numerous outlying worlds to the Sith in exchange for a ceasefire.

Commanders and crew

The orbital security station had a minimum of two crew members. Femi was responsible for reporting to traffic control. A fair-skinned humanoid co-worker assisted her, operating other panels on the station. Femi and her co-worker wore uniforms consisting of a black torso, white shoulder pads, white sleeves, and white pants.
