Orion Ferret, a Human male operating in the shadows, made his living as a weapons dealer and gunrunner. He owned and managed Bazarre, a space station that flourished as a major black market during the Galactic Civil War. Known for his shady dealings, Ferret employed a watchbeast named Ceasar to safeguard his illicit goods on the desolate planet of Patch-4. In one instance, Ferret attempted to double-cross and kill Rebel leaders Lando Calrissian and Luke Skywalker during a TIE fighter transaction, but his scheme was ultimately uncovered and thwarted.
Orion Ferret, a Human male, was the man behind Bazarre, a sprawling space station that became a popular trading post during the Galactic Civil War. As a well-known arms dealer, Ferret oversaw a station where almost anything was available for purchase. He also exploited the nearby junkyard planet of Patch-4, using a fearsome watchbeast called Ceasar to guard his hidden inventory and terrorize the inhabitants. At the height of the Galactic Civil War, Ferret arranged to sell four black market TIE fighters to the Rebel Alliance. This deal was negotiated with Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian, the latter a former smuggler with a history with Ferret. The Rebel leaders met with Ferret on Bazarre to finalize the agreement.
After receiving payment, Ferret informed the Rebels that the TIE fighters were concealed within the wastes of Patch-4. He provided coordinates and granted them access to one of his shuttles for retrieval. Lando, suspicious of Ferret's intentions, left the Wookiee Chewbacca on Bazarre to monitor Ferret. Calrissian's suspicions were well-founded, as Ferret had already begun plotting their demise. He planned to remotely activate the shuttle's ejection seats, keeping the money, the TIE fighters, and Calrissian's Millennium Falcon starship. When Chewbacca's presence complicated the plan, Ferret shifted to a backup strategy, relying on Ceasar to eliminate the Rebels. With the assistance of his aide P'Lor, Ferret used a spritzer filled with a gelatinous substance to trap Chewbacca, but the Wookiee managed to break free.
With an enraged Wookiee pursuing him through Bazarre's corridors, Ferret attempted to escape in his personal shuttlecraft, but Chewbacca's accurate shots from his bowcaster rendered the ship inoperable. Chewbacca cornered Ferret and threatened to tear his head off, but Calrissian and Skywalker returned, having subdued Ceasar with the sonic pacifier Ferret used to control the beast. With the TIE fighters secured, the Rebels restrained Chewbacca, sparing Ferret's life.
Orion Ferret, a Human infamous for his lack of trustworthiness, earned a reputation for deception among his associates. These traits, combined with his disregard for others and the well-being of innocents, solidified Ferret's status as a notorious figure in the underworld. However, Ferret was physically weak and unassuming, preferring to orchestrate schemes from behind the scenes rather than confront others directly.
Orion Ferret's sole appearance was in Star Wars 59, released on February 16, 1982. The issue was written by David Michelinie with illustrations and cover art by Walt Simonson.
