Patch-4, a planet in the Outer Rim overflowing with refuse, served as a storage location for valuable goods owned by Orion Ferret. Ferret was a notorious arms dealer and the proprietor of the Bazarre black market space station. During the Galactic Civil War, a displaced community of refugees, exiled from their original homes by the Galactic Empire, unexpectedly found sanctuary on Patch-4. This small group's existence was jeopardized by Ceasar, the formidable and lethal watchbeast that Ferret employed to safeguard his inventory.
Situated within the Patch system of the Outer Rim's Cademimu sector, Patch-4, a planet, was completely saturated with discarded materials and waste. This resulted in an overwhelming and offensive odor that permeated the entire planetary atmosphere, and gave the surface a runny, jelly-like consistency. The accumulated garbage on the planet formed elevated peaks and sunken valleys, and the resulting avalanches of trash posed a considerable hazard to anyone present on the surface. A significant portion of the waste deposited on Patch-4 consisted of mechanical components and remnants of starships, serving as prominent landmarks amidst the planet's chaotic surface. Despite its decidedly unhygienic conditions, Patch-4 was capable of sustaining a population of sentients, including Humans. During the Imperial Period, a group of "hoboes" established a habitat within subterranean tunnels, constructing underground dwellings and managing to survive for an extended duration.

By the time of the Galactic Civil War, a small, close-knit group of refugees, having been displaced from their homes by the Galactic Empire, had established a community on Patch-4. These "hoboes" had arrived on Patch-4 after spending time hitching rides on freighters and traveling extensively throughout the galaxy. However, their community faced a threat around 3 ABY, when Orion Ferret, the arms dealer who owned the Bazarre black market station, began utilizing Patch-4 as a storage facility for some of his more valuable possessions. To protect his goods, he deployed a massive watchbeast named Ceasar. This deadly, worm-like creature began to terrorize the local inhabitants, forcing them to seek refuge beneath the garbage-laden surface.
In 3 ABY, Rebel leaders Lando Calrissian and Luke Skywalker made a visit to Patch-4 after negotiating a transaction with Ferret for four TIE fighters. Ferret had concealed the starfighters among the planet's debris. However, Ferret intended to abandon the Rebels to Ceasar, planning to reclaim the valuable merchandise for himself once they were dead. Calrissian and Skywalker sought assistance from the "hoboes" and successfully tamed Ceasar using a sonic pacifier. This allowed them to secure their starfighters and restore the vagabonds' home.
Patch-4 was featured in Star Wars 59, penned by David Michelinie, illustrated by Walter Simonson, and released in 1982.
