Fugitives often used the constant flow of people in and out of the club to evade capture. The nightclub's clientele favored flamboyant attire, intended to attract attention whether on the dance floor or at the gambling tables. Bright colors were a popular choice to catch the eye, as were fabrics like sheer or metallic materials.
The Outlander began as a small, elegant establishment that catered to the upper class. It was here that a game called Outlander originated. Under the stewardship of the Baath brothers, the club grew to incorporate new gaming trends and became a common meeting place for Coruscant's criminal organizations.
Mere days before the Clone Wars began, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, tracked down and apprehended the bounty hunter Zam Wesell, who had fled into the club after her failed attempt to assassinate Senator Padmé Amidala. After the Jedi disarmed and took Wesell into an alley behind the cantina, she was killed by fellow bounty hunter Jango Fett before she could reveal the identity of her accomplice.
In 14 BBY, while traveling in hyperspace, Greez Dritus remembered the Outlander Club as one of his favorite places that he could no longer visit. Greez mentioned to Cere Junda that he had won some very large sabacc pots there.
