Plasma mining camp

This mining camp, which was owned by the Hutt named Borvo, served as a site to mine plasma during the period when the planet Naboo was subject to an invasion in 32 BBY. The Trade Federation Droid Army launched an assault on this base during the invasion. Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes from Bravo Flight was responsible for the protection of the camp. Subsequently, Sykes made contact with the mine operator seeking details about Captain Kael, but his request was turned down. The remaining laser cannons then opened fire on Sykes, who responded by obliterating the camp.

Characteristics

The camp, owned by Borvo the Hutt, was comprised of three plasma miners, laser turrets, and a control center. A central hub was also part of the mine's infrastructure, capable of enhancing deflector shields. The area immediately around the hub was devoid of vegetation.

History

Sykes engaging the Armored Assault Tanks.

When the Trade Federation invaded Naboo in 32 BBY, this camp was actively mining plasma. The Federation dispatched Armored Assault Tanks with the intention of destroying the camp. A vessel resembling the personal transport of the Hutt smuggler Borvo departed the area during the conflict. At the same time, Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes of Bravo Flight was present in the vicinity in a Flash speeder searching for his missing flight leader, Captain Kael. Sykes picked up a distress signal from the camp and engaged the tanks, successfully eliminating them. Upon contacting the mine operator in an attempt to gather information, Sykes was met with hostility. Undeterred by the operator's response, and after issuing a final warning, the operator ordered his remaining defenses to attack the Naboo pilot. In response, Sykes destroyed the entire camp. At the moment it was destroyed, the base was functioning as a plasma shipment point for the Trade Federation.

Behind the scenes

This mining camp is featured in a mission within the 2000 video game Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo. Destroying the camp is a requirement for progressing through the mission; however, driving through the central hub to receive a shield boost is optional. The Flash speeder is the default vehicle used for the mission. The camp received mentions in the 2011 magazine Star Wars: The Official Starships & Vehicles Collection 62 and in the 2012 short story, "End Game" by James Luceno.
