The Platoon Attack Craft (PAC), also known by the moniker Trade Federation troop carrier, functioned as a repulsorcraft carrier for personnel. It was utilized by the Trade Federation to ferry B1-series battle droids.
As an unarmed version of the Multi-Troop Transport, commonly referred to as the MTT, the platoon attack craft lacked both weapons and substantial armor. Consequently, it depended on Armored Assault Tanks and battle droids for its defense. Its deployment occurred either behind the protective cover of ground armor in secure zones, or within territories already under occupation. Despite the superior protection afforded by MTTs, the troop carrier possessed greater speed and agility, leading to the Trade Federation's Droid Army retaining a significant number of them.
Being a repulsorcraft, the troop carrier, much like the deployment racks found in MTTs, featured a single rack capable of accommodating numerous droids when folded into their compact configuration.

During the Invasion of Naboo, a number of platoon attack craft were transported to Naboo alongside MTTs and AATs via C-9979 landing crafts. These troop carriers formed a component of the Trade Federation's invading force, which seized control of the capital city, Theed.
During the period of the Clone Wars, the Trade Federation committed troop carriers to the droid army belonging to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. On Geonosis, these vehicles were employed to move battle droid platoons from the planet's subterranean droid factories for combat operations. Furthermore, troop carriers transported battle droids into the Petranaki Arena upon the arrival of Mace Windu's Jedi strike team with the mission of rescuing Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Senator Padmé Amidala.
Early in the Clone Wars, troop carriers were deployed to the Outer Rim world of Hissrich, where they were integrated into the Hissrich droid unit under the command of the droid mercenary AD-W4. These vehicles were stationed alongside MTTs and Octuptarra tri-droids at the Separatist outpost located on the planet. Later, troop carriers saw action during the Battle of Kashyyyk.
The troop carrier shared visual similarities with the stormtrooper transport that was in service with the Galactic Empire around the time of the Galactic Civil War.
The platoon attack craft made its initial appearance in 1999 within the film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Its designation as the platoon attack craft was later established in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products. Moreover, the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations, published by Dorling Kindersley, identified it as the Trade Federation troop carrier.
