A male Hoojib hailing from Arbra, named Plif, served as a spokesperson for his species. This Hoojib, you see, was victimized by the criminal Bralem Mopak, who captured numerous Hoojibs on Arbra by masquerading as a trader. Mopak's true intention was to dispatch these Hoojibs, Plif included, to various criminal organizations where they were forced to work as spies, relaying information back to him on Arbra.
During a visit to Arbra by the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, who were seeking a Hoojib to add to Jabba the Hutt's menagerie, Mopak provided them with Plif in a cage. The smugglers then transported Plif to Jabba's Palace on Tatooine. Although Jabba rejected the Hoojib, Plif managed to transmit information about a deal the Hutt was planning with the trader Zikk Keradd. Mopak then contacted Keradd and persuaded him to align with him instead of Jabba. Subsequently, Jabba imprisoned Solo and Chewbacca, wrongly believing they were responsible for the failed deal with Keradd. Plif then took action, freeing the smugglers and informing them of the situation unfolding on Arbra. Solo and Chewbacca then took Plif back to Arbra so he could lead a rescue effort, though Solo and Chewbacca allowed themselves to be captured so that Plif could rally the Hoojibs to escape and overthrow Mopak. The Hoojibs were successful in their revolt, and Plif chose to remain on Arbra.
Within the current Star Wars canon, Plif made his debut in "The Hoojib Menace," a comic story penned by Cavan Scott, with illustrations by Arianna Florean.
